Testing Results
IMPORTANT! Sites requesting testing must have approval from the appropriate state or local health department before submitting specimens. Approval must be sent to NPHL by email at or by calling (402) 559-9444.

A Special Microbiology Form must accompany the specimens. Some tests require additional forms and patient history. This will be listed below when applicable. When requested, testing will not be performed without all required information.

  Test: Mycobacterium tuberculosis DNA Amplified Direct Detection

  Comments: Sites submitting specimens for testing must have prior approval by the Tuberculosis Control Program at DHHS Regulation and Licensure (402-471-2937). A Special Microbiology Requisition is required. Collection of early morning specimens of sputum on each of three consecutive days is optimum. Indicate source on request form. This test is recommended for AFB smear positive respiratory specimens for patients highly indicative of M. tuberculosis infection. Organism must be submitted in NPHL Triple Pack and shipped via NPHL courier or Federal Express. Contact NPHL Client Services for more information (402-559-2440 or 866-290-1406).
